Ceylon sapphires have been treasured for more than 2,500 years. Many originate from Sri Lanka’s legendary gem producing region around Ratnapura, the “City of Gems” , and sapphires from the island have adorned royalty across the world. We choose Sri Lankan sapphires not only for their beauty, but for their provenance. Much of the island’s sapphire mining is still carried out on a small scale using traditional methods, with relatively little heavy machinery compared with large-scale industrial mining.
